SSMFA In Brief





The purpose of the SSMFA is:



(a) To promote amateur football for youth aged seven (7) to eighteen (18) years.



(b) To provide practice equipment, protective equipment, uniforms and facilities for the athletes who participate as a part of the South-Side Minor Football Association.



(c) To train and equip the coaches and referees who are a part of the South-Side Minor Football Association.



(d) To act as an engine of growth for amateur football in the immediate area.

2012 Tackle Football Registration Now Under Way


Tackle Football Registration is now taking place!

Harewood Registration: Is in The Dawghouse Football Facility located at the top of the John Barsby Student Parking Lot off of Brue Avenue. 

Times: Sunday, June 17th 2-4 PM and Sunday, June 24th 2-4 PM.

Fairview Registration: In portable behind Nanaimo District HS 5:00 PM-7:00 PM Monday June 18th and Monday June 25th.  Call Nate Stevenson 250-924-7589 or 250-740-2000 or e-mail nate_stevenson@hotmail.com .

Who can play?

We have two divisions:

Pee Wee: Age 9/10/11 yrs.  Cannot turn 12 in 2012

Jr. Bantam: Age 12/13 yrs.  Cannot turn 14 in 2012

Equipment: We provide a full set of protective equipment, socks, mouth-guard, game jersey and a practice jersey to all participants.  You need only provide your footwear.

Practice Locations: 

Harewood: We practice on the John Barsby HS Field complex Tuesday and Thursday nights from 6 PM- 7:30 PM Pee-Wees and 6 PM-8 PM Jr. Bantams beginning Tuesday, August 7th.   New players are welcome at this time as well.

Fairview: We practice on the Nanaimo District HS Field Complex with practices beginning Wednesday, August 15th 6-7:30 PM.

Equipment Issue for Fairview will be Monday, August 13th 6-7:30 PM.

Games:

Harewood: We play our home games Saturdays on John Barsby Field and most away games on Saturdays.  There will be the occasional Sunday away game.

League:  We play in a league against teams from Ladysmith, Fairview, Parksville, Campbell River and Courtenay (Jr. Bantam only).

Cost: $125.00 cash or cheque payable to South-Side Minor Football Association

**Of Note: The majority of the 2010 and 2011 BC Champion John Barsby HS Football Squads began their playing days right here in this league!  The same is the case for the young men who won the 2011 Tier 2 BC High School Championship at Nanaimo District HS! 

The football field is a great place to build a lifetime of positive relationships and memories!!
